Good for the little art kid! Sep 20, 2009 Works well, attaches to my SUV (Honda Pilot) fine. Sits pefectly in her lap...she sits in a car seat.

Nice, if it lasts Aug 10, 2008 This valet has two removable crayon/pencil zippered pouches at the top, net pockets below, and a large plastic pocket which can accommodate a drawing pad etc. It closes with a zipper and has a front transparent pocket suitable for favorite photos/drawings and the like. It is made of soft bendable plastic, which seems safe enough (e.g. in the event of an accident). The down side of this is that the drawing/valet side is too soft to rest arms/hands (or anything other than small objects) on. The back side of the valet (i.e. the one against the front seat) is of the same soft material, and got torn a few weeks after I bought it. The zipper is of poor good quality and gets stuck a lot, and requires frequent intervention by an adult. The valet is attached onto the front seat by means of two straps that hug the seat using velcro. This looks ugly, is irritating to the person seated in the front seat (pulling hair etc), and it would not stay put in my vehicle. Overall, my son loved this item while it lasted. I like the idea, but the design is poor and the materials are cheap. Unlike the price.
My daughter loves this Jul 06, 2008 My 6 year old daughter loves her car trey, she can color write or read and she has a place for all her things.

Awesome! Jan 09, 2008 I just installed this today, and took our first car ride with it. It's awesome! My four year old daughter loves the independence she has to choose where her things go inside, and what she plays with at any given time. It has enough room for markers & paper (I got her the ColorWonder so I don't have to worry about my car), her Leapster and cartridges, toys, extra batteries, juice box, etc. It's not as deep as I expected, and I was surprised that it didn't reach over her lap. We have a Caravan, and I moved the passenger seat in front of her all the way back, and her seat all the way up. It sort of rests on her knees. But she says it's fine for reaching, and doesn't have trouble coloring on it. And she can easily open & close it herself.
The only drawback I can think of is that the fastener (velcro straps) isn't very flexible in terms of fitting on a variety of seat types. It worked OK for the Caravan, but required some creative wrapping/twisting to get the length right.
One thing I'm not sure of is whether things will fall off it, since the tray doesn't have sides. We have the Star tray also, and it's awesome because it has sides. But it's not a desk-organizer like the Valet.
I suppose since the Valet is so skinny when put up, it won't get in the way of the Star tray if I need her to eat in the car.

Great product Aug 09, 2007 My 4 year old daughter loves the Alex Car Valet. She has instant access to all her small toys, crayons, stickers etc. without needing any assistance. It is easy and fast to unzip for play, and zip up when she's done. It keeps the car neet and tidy.
The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that it really doesn't fit my car properly. I have a SUV cross-over, and the Valet is hanging too low to fit above my daughter's knees when she is sitting in her car seat. I have fixed it by adding some extra rope to hang it from the top of the head rest of the front seat instead of the back of it and it works.
