 my 5-year old loved it Jan 25, 2010
my daughter was dying for me to teach her how to sew and i couldn't find anything at the bricks and mortar bookstore or target. this was the perfect kit! it includes five easy projects that can be completed with increasing levels of skill. we sewed the little bag the afternoon the box arrived. the cat took a few days. we'll do the elephant next. this will be my standard birthday present for her friends this year.

I purchased this for my 6 year old daughter, the contents of the kit are nothing more than a travel sewing kit combined with all of $3 worth of sewing supplies. No patterns were including only extremely basic instructions and little more. Included scissors don't work at all. The needles are regular sized needles and not of a large (and dulled type) that one would expect with a "first" sewing kit.
You'd do better to search inside the drawers of your bedside table and odds and end drawer and dump it into a bag than to purchase this useless kit.

My 6 yo really enjoys this. She made a stuffed animal for a friend (with some adult help and guidance). Excellent activity. The case is not particularly well-constructed.

Wonderful present for crafty children Dec 27, 2009
I purchased this kit for my seven year old who has never attempted sewing before and she has had a blast! The sewing kit is really nice since it comes with everything needed to complete the projects listed in the project booklet found in the sewing kit. The projects are very easy and my seven year old was able to do everything pretty much by herself thus avoiding frustration. The only complaint I would have about this set is that the scissors it comes with are useless since they are pretty much a toy so make sure your child has a pair of extra scissors handy when using this kit. Said this, I would say that this sewing kit is worth the money and is of a good overall quality.

My 7 year old granddaughter loved the sewing kit! It is a great opportunity to interact, have fun and also learn valuable skills.
